faster loading and new keyboard shortcuts

Luminotes 1.6.0 is out with several new features!

Faster notebook loading: Loading your notebooks and switching between notebooks is now much faster. You may remember how in previous versions, when a notebook page loaded, you'd have to sit and wait while each note loaded individually. Well, now the waiting is over, and as soon as the page loads, you're ready to go.

This feature might seem like only a minor improvement, but it actually lays the groundwork for a number of future improvements. First of all, with this change in place, I can now add a feature to allow you to move your notes up and down within your notebook, reordering them to your heart's content. Additionally, this faster loading makes larger notebooks perform even better. So now you can have even more notes open at once, and I can add features that take advantage of these large notebooks.

Several new keyboard shortcuts:
  • Switch to the next open note: page down
  • Switch to the previous open note: page up
  • Start a search: ctrl-/ (ctrl-forward slash)
  • Save the current note: ctrl-space
No more IE 6 support: As of this release, Luminotes and Luminotes Desktop no longer support Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6. However newer versions (7+) are still fully supported. Support for Internet Explorer 6 grew to be increasingly time-consuming, and so I've decided to optimize my time to work on support for more modern browsers, specifically ones that more Luminotes users have.

If you are one of the few people still using Internet Explorer 6, please take this opportunity to download Firefox or Internet Explorer 7. Chrome and Safari are also fully supported. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to let me know.

Lots of other changes: This release contains many changes and improvements to the underlying code, too many to list here. If you experience any problems whatsoever, please contact support.
