​Creating a group for those who want to host luminotes

Hi everyone,

I too discovered luminotes rather late but not too late to realize how cool it is. So I am thinking of hosting it on one of my servers and I have so far been able to install and run it... Sort of... Occasional problems do come up (mostly system administration type) and so if any of you out there are doing the same thing, it might make sense for us to create an email list to share expertise; I just cannot bring myself to send an email to Dan every time I run into a problem. If this interests you, please send me an email (Ali Erkan, [email protected]). If a list does materialize, I will get the ball rolling.

BTW, in case you are curious, I will be using luminotes in teaching (I teach computer science at Ithaca College, NY).

Thanks a lot Dan for the great effort. I just started using Luminotes.com, it's a pity I didn't know it earlier. I wished it stayed forever I see it as a genius yet simple solution for online notebooks that are very helpful. But "C'est La Vie"..."That's Life".... so thanks a lot for the amazing & fantastic effort you devote for this project and for the time you gave to it... Wish you the best of luck with your new job and wish success always. Finally, please let me say something I truly feel, people like you whom may be we didn't meet personally but really admire just from knowing you through what you do.. it's such a happiness to get to know people like you! :)

​Thank you so much for your work on Luminotes in the past! I have been using it since January 2009, and it has never disappointed me. Me and my other noveling friends LOVE it. :) I am sad to hear that it is closing, but I wish you luck in all of your future projects!

I'm just a kid who has used this website as an occasionary diary since september 2008, but I'm still sad to see it go. I wrote some of my first short stories here.

Did anyone try running Luminotes from Google App Engine? I'd love to hear of that.

I loved using Luminotes on line, so much so that I think I might try to install a version on my own servers sometime. I think it is just an awesome product, and I want to thank you for all you did. I keep hoping someone will want to take it over in turn... But even if not; oh well. It has been a great ride. Good luck with everything!
